Raul E. Garcia Jr.

Partner/Senior Litigator

About

Raul grew up in Belle Glade, FL. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology. He then completed his law degree in 2 ½ years at St. Thomas University. His first job out of law school was at the large downtown Miami firm of Blackwell & Walker P.A. as a litigation attorney, handling a wide range of matters in the areas of medical malpractice, life insurance defense, commercial litigation, general insurance defense and eminent domain. In 1993, he opened his own practice, representing individuals in cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, serious personal injury, negligent security, and product liability. His cases were featured in local and national publications, and included delay/misdiagnosis of cancer, wrongful amputation, misdiagnosis of stroke, complications during pregnancy and delivery, audiology malpractice, ophthalmology malpractice and plastic surgery malpractice.

In 2014, he joined Rubenstein Law as a litigation attorney, and now he is a partner, shareholder, and senior litigator, trying cases in Florida and other jurisdictions, and mentoring the firm’s younger litigators. Raul has tried over 100 cases to verdict, and his cases have gone all the way up to the United States Supreme Court. In 2016, he obtained the highest medical malpractice verdict in the State of Florida ($7.7M) and in 2018 he obtained the second highest slip and fall verdict in the state ($4.9M). His proudest achievement also came in 2018, when he delivered closing arguments 19 days apart in two cases that each resulted in verdicts over a million dollars. In 2022, after a two week-long trial against two corporate defendants, he obtained a $20M verdict for a young man who suffered a severe leg injury. The verdict was the ninth largest premises liability verdict in the United States. Raul has also handled multi-million dollar arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and the American Health Lawyer’s Association. In his spare time he enjoys reading, playing golf, and watching sports. He and his wife enjoy traveling and spending time with their four adult children and granddaughter.
