What should I do about my car being put in storage?

You have a duty to reduce damages. Contact your insurer to see if the insurer is willing to remove the vehicle from the tow yard to their storage facility, where it will not accrue more charges. Otherwise, it’s best to pay off the charges if you have the ability to do so.
